highlights of the week


Mister Kay's best find of the week, a stool by Dirk  van Sliedrecht  for Rohe, made in the fifties ( I wanted one for a long time)


We replaced the dark shells with fresh summer colors. Also changed the dowel bases for h-bases. I like the change!


A little lucky rabbit made of chinese newspaper. It is made by a flowershop in Bussum called VERGEET-ME-NIET.

 I love the late  afternoon sunlight at the beach.
Beach food  here would be fish ,  salat, chips and summer beer
I can sit there for hours , daydreaming and watching people.

The Oase chair by Wim Rietveld



Mister Kay just finished his latest project, restoration of the lounge chair "Oase" designed by Wim Rietveld for "De Cirkel" (Amsterdam) in 1958. Wim Rietveld was the son of the famous Gerrit Rietveld and he was a famous designer as well.

another day at the seaside



this morning we went to Rotterdam to by a new camera.. the day was bright and sunny ,so we  went to  Zeeland, for a walk on the beach  and  a picnic on the seafront ( with some horrid fish and chips)

from Ikea to vintage

  Mister Kay was lucky to find  her a vintage
Cleopatra bed from the 50's ...
guess now we have to give her bedroom a new look, lol 


I'm working on a new  policy for  the house,
ONE IN,ONE OUT 
not easy, but it's working with my clothes.
With chairs and ceramic it's more difficult but I guess we could sell some at the car-boot sale...

- I did try to make my mums russian pancakes, they did  look good but the taste was not perfect  yet.

- Wishing  Mallika from  quickindiancooking was my friend  and would teach me how to make curry.

- Going for a  family drive , turning on the radio and singing alone.

summer in Amsterdam



I get lots of mail from readers ,which are coming 
 to Amsterdam this summer.

 So here some ideas, what I would do
in Amsterdam.

(just remember, it's easy and pleasent to walk or cycle in the center)


A. stop for some coffee at the Museumsplein (to watch people)
B. try some indonesian food
C. have a walk in the Jordaan (there is the vintage market on Mondays and a great food market on Saturdays)
D.  take a boat trip around the city (nice to see the city from the water)  
E. Staalstraat (guess my fav neigbourhood, lot's of nice little shops)
F.if you like Museums... try the bag (tassen) museum
G. have a day trip to Haarlem 
H. I like the Albert Cuyp market , if you are looking for fabric and some bargins, that's the place to come to
I. have a walk in the Vondelpark  and coffee at cafe Vertigo & the Filmmuseum
J. the botanic garden ( for all my garden friends)


and what will you take home from Amsterdam ???
cheese, blue&white fabric, a T-shirt, some dutch  summer music, cookies ( we have wonderful cookies) and liquorice

WE


on the weekend we always make time for some good food and  a city walk...

Finally I got myself a new book " MORD.NET from Buthler&Oehlund".

Enjoying  chai tea , I had a  very good cup of chai tea today at Juffrouw zonder Zorgen in Haarlem but also last summer in Denmark.

Baking my way through Muffins (fast and fantastic) by Susan Reimer.

I  have been thinking about starting a  garden club (if you live in the Netherlands, join if you feel like it, get in touch via email).

summer look



last year I did have a lot's of red pillows  in the garden , this summer I go for green..
guess every night I spend  about 30  minutes to bring all the pillows and co back in to the house..
but then I have a second living room in the garden , which is fun

I love the large copper tray which I got in  Marianne's shop and my vintage birdcage from the charity shop
